Wendy Gentil, known as Patrick, a mason living in Cité La Cure, was held in a police cell on Thursday, January 26, after his appearance before the Port-Louis court. This suspect was brought up on a provisional charge of drug trafficking. On the same day, he was arrested by the Special Patrol team of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) Metropolitan for possession of 206.52 grams of cannabis and 6.81 grams of heroin. The street value of these drugs is Rs 348 780.
It is based on certain information and hours of surveillance that police officers of the Special Patrol, led by Sergeant Yan Sung Fong, raided the home of Wendy Gentil around 8:10 am on Wednesday, January 25. The information turned out to be true as drugs were found at the suspect’s home.
A plastic bag with a quantity of cannabis, another plastic bag with 102 cellophane wrappers with cannabis and 78 doses of heroin were seized. The suspect was taken to the ADSU headquarters at the Central Barracks for questioning before being presented in court in Port-Louis.
43-year-old skipper arrested with drugs
On Tuesday January 24, Parmeswar Juckhory, alias Garson, alias Madan, a 43-year-old skipper and resident of Cité CHA, Rivière du Rempart, was arrested with drugs worth Rs 4 234 950. His arrest was made by police officers of the ADSU of Poudre d’Or at around 7:30 am.
It is a team of police officers, led by Inspector Soyfoo, who arrested this suspect after this drug was found in a backpack. There were 3 plastic bags containing a total of 269.31 grams of heroin and another bag with 19.53 grams of cannabis seeds. A sum of Rs 65,400 in different denominations, which is suspected to be from the sale of the drug, was also seized.
