The prize of the young writer of the French language returns for the 3rd time to our compatriot Aqiil Gopee. The writing of his new book Insectarium impressed the jury. At 25, the young man is working on a novel.
It is said that there is never a third time around. Aqiil proved it well by winning for the 3rd time the French young writer’s prize. The news came in December 2022 and the official announcement will be made at the end of March.
Commenting on this consecration, the writer said: “It is always difficult to say why a winner of such a competition. However, I believe that the experience and the storyline have contributed to my winning the first prize.
The young writer is also working on his first novel: “I am currently working on writing my first novel. I hope to have it finished by September before I find a publisher.”
In the future, he could see himself wearing two hats: “I’m about to start a doctorate in archaeology. I’ve been accepted at the University of Chicago and Harvard. While I haven’t decided yet, in the future I plan to make a living practicing archaeology while also hoping to make a living from my passion for writing.”
