Linion Des Partie Extra Parlementaires Talks About Wrong Management Of Public Funds

Must Read

On this Friday 18th March 2022, Dev Sunnasy, Bruneau Laurette, Jean Claude Barbier, Ivor Tan Yan, among the others members of Linion des Parties Extra Parlementaires, spoke of the situation prevailing in the country during their weekly press conference.

Jean Claude Barbier focused mainly on the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) report where the latest Audit Report stated that “Year in Year out”, more and more perturbed reports are showing the wrong management of public funds when the increasing amount of fraudulent matters is taken into consideration. Coming to the Audit Report, Barbier pointed out that it is even worse. Despite what the reports are revealing, nothing is being done to change the situation for the better.

Ivor Tan Yan commented on the situation that the Agaleens faces when they come to Mauritius for medical treatments. Taking the case of the 18-year-old girl who came to Mauritius for an operation, he stated that the Outer Island Development Corporation (OIDC) has tried to make the girl pay for a quarantine fee because she had tested positive to Covid 19 instead of providing her with a safe place to stay until she could go back to her island. Tan Yan mentioned that there are many such cases where the OIDC is failing in doing its job the way it should be done.

Another point raised by Ivor during the press conference is that hundreds of people are queuing outside of the Casernes Centrales for the renewal of their auto cycle/motorcycle driver’s learner licence.  With a time limit till the 28th March, taking into consideration the obligation of having a booster dose to enter the premises; he appealed to the Commissioner of Police to provide for an extension so that everyone gets the opportunity of renewing their learner’s licence.

As for Bruneau Laurette, he spoke about the ‘visible tattoos’ issue in the police force and stated that a visible tattoo does not mean that the police officer will not perform his/her duty well.
