The head of state suffers a setback in the second round of legislative elections, the left-wing alliance becomes the second force in the Assembly, the far right makes an unprecedented breakthrough and LR comes in fourth with 78 seats, according to the first Ipsos-Sopra Steria projections for France Télévisions, Radio France, France 24-RFI-MCD and LCP-National Assembly. In order to pass laws, Ensemble! will therefore have to deal with other political forces, such as the Republicans. The threshold for an absolute majority is set at 289 seats.
Ensemble! has suffered serious setbacks in some constituencies, and Nupes seems to be far from 200. The Rassemblement National is doing well, approaching 90 seats. Here are the first estimates in number of seats according to Ipsos-Sopra-Steria for France Télévisions and Radio France :
- Ensemble ! : 218 deputies
- Nupes: 156 deputies
- RN : 89 deputies
- LR / UDI : 78 deputies
- Various left : 21 deputies
- Various / others : 12 deputies
- Various center: 3 deputies
The Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, on the other hand, won her election in the 6th constituency of Calvados by obtaining 52.3% of the vote.
