The plays Le correspondant 1 and 2 made Mauritians laugh a lot. This time, the Komiko troupe is offering Nouvo korespondan against the backdrop of an incredible love story between a Mauritian woman and a correspondent. The play will be performed on 15 and 16 April at the Caudan Art Center at 8 pm. Tickets are on sale at Rs 300, uniform price.
The Komiko troupe is currently rehearsing for a play entitled Nouvo korespondan. Written by Miselaine Duval – the director, the play is once again about an attempted arranged marriage between a Mauritian woman and Chotelall – a character who is very popular with the audience: “It is the story of two families who want to marry their daughter to Chotelall, an expatriate, at all costs. But the brides-to-be don’t see it that way. This will trigger a series of funny situations,” explains Alexandre Martin, an actor in the troupe.
For this new play, the company was keen to introduce its new recruits: “The audience will discover the new faces of humour. The play does indeed give pride of place to the new members of the troupe.
And if the audience is interested, it could be that version 2 of Nouvo korespondan will be performed: “It’s quite possible. But it all depends on how well the play is received by the audience during the two performances,” says Alexandre.
