Mauritian athletes once again shone in Madagascar at the second of the 11th Indian Ocean Games. After collecting four gold medals on the first day, the Mauritians brought home another seven. Mauritius is in third place overall. Madagascar, with 43 gold medals, is in the lead, while Réunion, with 27 gold medals, is in second place.
Weightlifter Sephora Lent was the most impressive with three gold medals in the under 71 kg category.
In cycling, despite Christopher Lagane’s crash, the national team took the top step of the podium in the team time trial. Maurice had shone in this event at JIOI 2019.
Rémi Feuillet was the strongest in the under-90kg judo category. He thus retains his JIOI 2019 title.
The Mauritius women’s badminton team was untouchable and logically won the gold medal.
As for Tessa Ip Hen Cheung, she did it again in the breaststroke. After winning gold on the first day in the 50 m, she was once again untouchable in the 100 m breaststroke.
