The Janmashtami Celebration marks the birth of Krishna and is celebrated across India and in Mauritius. On this special day, believers visit the temple, observe fasting, sings hymns, wears clean clothes after an early bath, pray by facing the east or north direction. Families come together for a feast and to complete their celebration, there is the breaking of the Dahi Handi.

On his birth which took place in Mathura, at that time his parents were imprisoned. Thus, he was exposed to the thread of his life. He was shifted to his foster parents in Gokul.
