An Indian national, working in a private clinic in Wilhems Highlands was arrested on Tuesday morning, March 14, on a charge of rape. This crime he would have committed on his colleague of work in the evening of Saturday, March 11. The 24-year-old victim was examined by a forensic pathologist late Monday afternoon, March 13. She kept the clothes she was wearing that day to be produced to the police as evidence. Suspect Mala Karsidda Bandagar, 30, was brought before the Curepipe court during the day on Tuesday, March 14, on a provisional charge of rape. He was subsequently taken into custody.
In her complaint, the nurse explained that she was in the nursing station around 8 pm on Saturday, March 11, when the nurse arrived. The nurse, who works in a ward in the intensive care unit, asked for a bed to transfer a patient to another ward. The nurse then went to another room. While she was busy dismantling a bed, this nurse who was present grabbed her from behind and started squeezing her breasts. While she was screaming Mala Karsidda Bandagar pushed her into a bathroom. This man according to her version kissed her on her lips. This action, she says, was disgusting. She then went to a sink to wash herself and started to vomit.
This man would later come behind her back and forcibly remove her pants to sexually abuse her. After satisfying his sexual urge this nurse had to leave this place. The victim said that she cleaned herself with a cloth that she kept. She said she was stressed by this event and was traumatized. In the evening of the same day at around 11 p.m. she informed the duty manager about this case.
During the day of Monday, March 13, this nurse was examined by a doctor of the clinic, samples which were carried out, she intends to give them to the investigators.
