Indian Airline Vistara Will Fly To Mauritius From The End Of March 2023

Must Read

Vistara has revealed that it will use the A321LR to Mauritius. The first flight between Mumbai and Mauritius is scheduled for March 26. Thus, five flights of the A321 are planned each week. Mauritius becomes the 12th destination that Vistara will serve. The Mumbai-Mauritius flight is now bookable.  Vistara has received its first A321LR earlier in February.

Vistara will join Air Mauritius on the 2,905-mile (4,675 km) airport pair. Following Air India ending the route in 2006, Vistara will be the first Indian airline between Mumbai-Mauritius in 17 years, according to Cirium data. The announcement comes as SAS uses the A321LR to relaunch Copenhagen-New York JFK after a 30-plus year absence.

Given the generations of Indian diaspora is in Mauritius, it seems that the market primarily revolves around Indian tourists to Mauritius and medical travel from Mauritius. India was the biggest point-of-sale, with around 60% of passengers booking from that country, according to booking data.

Approximately 119,000 passengers flew Mumbai-Mauritius-Mumbai in 2019, booking data reveals. About three-quarters of the passengers flew non-stop with Air Mauritius. In contrast, the rest flew indirectly, mainly with Air Seychelles but also via Dubai with Emirates and via Nairobi with Kenya Airways.
