In Stanley, Rose-Hill: Rs 1.6 Million Of Drugs And The Sum Of Rs 800,000 Found At The Home Of A Technician

Information came to the attention of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) in Rose-Hill that a 31-year-old technician from Stanley, Rose-Hill was involved in drug trafficking. After hours of surveillance, a team led by Inspector Fowdar arrived at the home of Mohammad Adil Elshad Purbhoo. The information turned out to be true. Synthetic drugs, cannabis, cocaine, all with a street value of Rs 1,617,256 and the sum of Rs 869,500 suspected to be from the sale of drugs were seized.

It was around 8.30am on Monday 19 September that the Adsu police raided the home of Adil Purbhoo. A search of the house revealed two hundred and three grams of the synthetic drug, one hundred and seventy grams of cannabis, 26.3 grams of cocaine and 3.13 grams of cannabis. All these drugs are worth Rs 1,617,256. A sum of Rs 869,500 which Adsu suspects to be from the sale of the drugs was also seized.

In addition, Orlando Ecumoire, 31, of Bassin, Quatre-Bornes, was arrested for drug trafficking for the purpose of distribution at around 12.30pm on the same day. A raid by a team of Adsu from Rose-Hill led by Sergeant Mohun led to the discovery of 30.9 grams of synthetic drugs worth Rs 154,500 at his house.

The two arrested suspects were taken to the Adsu office in Rose-Hill for questioning. On Tuesday morning, September 20, Adil Purbhoo and Orlando Ecumoire were brought before the Rose-Hill court. They are facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking. They were subsequently held in a police cell.
