I Should Have Been Elected – Says Adrien Duval

Must Read

The defeated National Alliance candidate deposed before Justices Iqbal Maghooa and Gaitree Jagessur-Manna this morning in the case regarding the election petition he filed in the Supreme Court. Adrien Duval is demanding a recount of votes in No 17. His case is simple. “The counting exercise was not conducted in a transparent manner. I should have been elected,” he said.

Adrien Duval also made a series of allegations, while he was questioned by his lawyer, Jacques Panglose, on the conduct of the ballot counting exercise. He said he had been informed that the Returning Officer was going into the rooms with individuals who were neither agents nor candidates. He added that for 10 minutes, MSM supporters broke into the school and watched the counting through the windows. He also said that on various occasions, votes intended for him were attributed to another candidate.

All this shows, according to him, that the exercise was not done in a transparent manner. Adrien Duval, who came in fourth in the last election in constituency #17, is calling for a recount.
