According to Pravind Jugnauth, the purpose of these visits was also to ensure that the drainage works undertaken in these areas have been effective or not. “The recent heavy rains have caused quite a bit of damage: water accumulation in some areas and flooded rivers. The other members of my government and I have decided to go to the field to ensure that the infrastructure works and the development of drains in these areas have been effective or not during the torrential rains,” he said.
