The President of Huawei Southern Africa Region, Mr Chen Lei, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Home Affairs and External Communications, Minister for Rodrigues, Outer Islands and Territorial Integrity, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, at the New Treasury Building, in Port Louis, this morning.
Huawei, founded in 1987, is a global player in the ICT industry and operates in more than 150 countries. Huawei’s cooperation with Mauritius in the field of information communication and Internet dates back to 2004. It employs some 300 people. The Multi-country headquarters is also established in Mauritius, overseeing business in 12 countries/regions.
In addition, Huawei has run the Seeds for the Future programme, aimed at providing local students training and exposure to technology and know-how, as from May 2017 when ten students from the University of Mauritius went to China for training. Since then, many students had been offered the opportunity to gain experience under a global business environment, within Huawei, while experiencing Chinese culture and cross-cultural work practices.
