Twist Of Fate will be the horse to beat in the main event of next Saturday at the Champ-de-mars racecourse. He will have to overcome the disadvantage of carrying a heavy handicap compared to his main opponents.
Twist Of Fate is the classy horse of the field. He won The Duchess Of York Cup (1400m – G2), and ‘La Coupe des Présidents’ (2100m – G2) in 2021. The Vincent Allet-trained horse has never been outclassed in classic races with a second and a third place in the Barbé (1600m – G1) and finishing third in the Maiden Cup (2400m – G1) and the Gold Cup (1600m – G1).
Twist Of Fate didn’t have an easy race on June 6, and he fought hard to take a good third place 1.69L behind Frosted Gold. He has already been beaten by Crank It Up on the 6th race meeting, but he could have done better if he was more wisely ridden on that day. Twist Of Fate will carry the heavy handicap of 61 kg, and this will be the big and only disadvantage for him.
The main danger will come from Crank It Up. He won over 1500m and 1600m this season. He can race handy, or run from further back before coming to the finish. He is in excellent physical condition, and he will be right there at the finish.
Consul Of War is in a good form and he will try his luck against the best horses. He won his last two races over 1650m and 1850m easily. He will take full advantage of his lightweight to try a win a main race. Absolutist won only once over 1650m in Mauritius last year in B41. He did well in the last two rounds of the 4-years-old championship, finishing second behind The Gatekeeper. He seems to be in a better shape this season and he will be a danger if he is allowed to race freely in front.
