Heroin, Firearms, Explosives, And Bullets Seized: The Tiktoker Raquel Jolicoeur Was Arrested For Terrorist Acts

It is under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PoTA) that the tiktoker, Jean Raquel Jolicoeur, 36 years old, was arrested at his home on Alfred Besnard Street in Roche-Bois in the early hours of this Monday morning, May 2. He was found in possession of 2 sticks of dynamite, a revolver loaded with 6 bullets of 0.22 caliber, a box containing 35 bullets of 0.22 mm and 6 cartridges of the brand Rottwell Special 36 of 12 gauge. With his group Armada 666, he has intended to throw a stick of dynamite on the Central Barracks and another on an emblematic place of the country.  This is what he confided to the police shortly after his arrest. The gun was intended to be used to shoot some police officers.  The suspect was also found in possession of 5 pellets of heroin, 403 grams, whose market value is Rs 6 045 000.

The Divisional Criminal Intelligence Unit (DCIU) and the Anti-Drug Trafficking Unit (ADSU) have set up an operation last week to apprehend this suspected trafficker today. According to sources, the team has received specific information about the suspected trafficker and his accomplices three days ago. Point not to be missed is that the suspect had four warrants out for his arrest for various cases since 2019, 2020 and 2022.

This morning, three search operations took place simultaneously at the residence of Jean Raquel Jolicoeur in Roche-Bois, Caro Calyptus and Parc Cochon in the same area. The search of the main suspect’s house was conducted by Detectives Gunga and Dubarry while the other two were conducted by CI Jagai. The most important part of the operation was conducted under the direct supervision of the Police Commissioner, Anil Kumar Dip.

The house of Jean Raquel Jolicoeur was indeed closed but the investigators could hear noise coming from inside the house. The team took the initiative to enter the house and had to break down an aluminium door to gain access. That’s when they saw the suspect running away with a duffel bag in his hand. Fortunately, investigators were able to apprehend and subdue him.

The Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) of the Southern Division was assigned to this investigation to shed light on the activities of this group called Armada 666. This is a group of rappers, who has released several clips on social networks to make allegations, mainly against the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of the Western Division.

After a month on the run after the arrest of his brother, Jean Miguel Jolicoeur, 20 years old with Rs 2 million of heroin, Raquel Jolicoeur, 36 years old, was arrested at 5:30 am this Monday, May 2 at his home in Roche-Bois. It was during a police operation set up as from 3 am this May 2 by the men of the Divisional Crime Intelligence Unit (DCIU) of the Northern division, led by Inspector Gunga and Inspector Doobaree of ADSU of Rose-Hill.

As a reminder, Jean Miguel Jolicoeur was arrested on the morning of Wednesday, March 30 at his home in Cite Roma, Riche-Terre. He was found in possession of 156.6 grams of heroin and an electronic scale. The value of the seized drugs is Rs 2 349 000. He had incriminated his brother Raquel Jolicoeur in this case. The latter was wanted by ADSU for one month. In the meantime, he has posted a video on social networks containing serious allegations against an ADSU officer from Rose-Hill and to deny any involvement of his brother and his group in the drug trafficking.

Raquel Jolicoeur is being held in the Vacoas detention center. He will be brought before the Bail and Remand Court in Port-Louis this Tuesday morning, May 3rd. MCIT has already identified several anti-police individuals in these circulating videos.
