According to the National Emergency Operations Command, accumulations of water, muddy water and fallen trees have made several roads in the south impracticable, including the Choisy road to Chamarel, the main road to St. Félix and the main road to Souillac on Tuesday. The police, several SMF units and the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Services (MFRS) are at work. Diversions have been set up in the affected areas.
The NEOC appeals to road users to take all necessary precautions and to remain vigilant on the roads. Several roads are impassable in the south of the country due to accumulated water, notably those linking Chamarel to Choisy as well as St Félix. Local police have set up a detour plan in some regions.
