Harrison Ford Back As Indiana Jones; Gets Emotional At Tease Release Event

Must Read

Actor Harrison Ford, popular for his Indiana Jones Series is ready to take on the new expedition. The actor is coming back in the fifth instalment of the series after over a decade. The first teaser for the untitled next was premiered at Disney’s D23 Expo in California on Saturday. Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, film’s director James Mangold, co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge and the actor were present at the show.

Ford became emotional talking about the movie at the event. He was seen teary-eyed as he opened up about his 40-year-old tenure since the first in the iconic series. Being emotional about the film, Ford said, “Indiana Jones movies are about mystery and adventure but they’re also about heart. Thank you for making these films such an incredible experience for all of us. We have a really great story to tell, as well as a movie that will kick your ass.”. “I’m very proud to say that this one is fantastic. And this is one of the reasons,” he said pointing to Phoebe, who stars as Helena.

The film went through a roller-coaster ride facing several delays due to production issues and Covid-19. Finally, in May 2015, Kennedy confirmed that Lucasfilm would eventually make another Indiana Jones film.

Harrison Ford also hinted at the fifth instalment being his last run. Affirming the same, he said, “This is it. I will not fall down for you again. But thank you so much.”

James Mangold will be directing the fifth instalment of the Indiana Jones series; Mangold, Jez Butterworth, and John-Henry Butterworth wrote the script. It is the first film in the series that neither Steven Spielberg, who produced it, nor George Lucas, who wrote the narrative, directed. Along with veteran actors John Rhys-Davies as Sallah and Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, the film also features newcomers Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen among others.

Since Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, it is the first movie in the series to be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The movie will premiere on June 30, 2023.
