Jean Hubert Célerine appeared in Bambous District Court this morning where the magistrate extended his detention until 21 March. The resident of Black River is facing a provisional charge of money laundering. His motion for release was to be debated last Thursday. However, at the request of his lawyer, Mr. Yatin Varma, the debates have been postponed to 13 April. Today is therefore a normal appearance for Franklin.
Chandradeepsingh Banee under arrest?
The director of Auto Hire Co Ltd may be arrested arrest. Chandradeepsing Banee was questioned yesterday by the investigators of the Anti-Corruption Commission before being allowed to leave. He was to be further questioned this Tuesday.
The company, where he has been appointed as a director as of 3 February 2023, owns the 4 Ford Raptors which were seized by the ICAC yesterday. To recall, Robert was questioned and subsequently arrested in the context of the investigation concerning the Franklin case. Chandradeepsing Banee will be brought shortly before the Curepipe Magistrate’s Court for his provisional indictment.
