Franklin Case: Me Leblanc: “Obviously, We Are Disappointed”

Must Read

With Mr Yatin Varma taken in the Supreme Court, it was Mr Alexandre Leblanc who commented on the decision of magistrate Vidya Mungroo-Jugurnauth not to grant parole to Jean Hubert Célerine, alias Franklin. Mr Leblanc spoke of the disappointment of the Franklin camp. “Obviously, we are disappointed. It’s a long ruling. The magistrate has only given the broad outlines. The main reason for her decision is the lack of technological means in Mauritius to supervise the probation of a suspect,” he said.

Also, Jean-Hubert Célerine is no longer in police custody. This morning, after his appearance in the court of Bambous, where the magistrate decided that he would not be released on bail, he was returned to detention in the prison. He added that on May 25, Franklin is due to appear in court in Port Louis in connection with the request for his extradition to Reunion Island.
