Must Read

After a seven-day vacation in Mauritius, a Congolese woman who was on her way to Plaisance airport with her friend of the same nationality was burned on both hands when the car she was in caught fire. The driver tried to stop the vehicle, which then collided head-on with the parapet after the New France traffic circle. The parapet was damaged for about 30 meters. The driver was given a breathalyzer test which was negative. The two Congolese who missed their initial flight, were able to leave the island in late afternoon.

It was around 7:25 am this Friday, June 10, that a team from the police station of Rose-Belle went to the New Airport Road, Rose-Belle not far from the Parbeaux hall following a request concerning an accident. A white Suzuki car was involved. This vehicle was driven by a Congolese man with his friend of the same nationality at his side.

When the police arrived, elements of the fire department were already on the scene to clean up the road. The Congolese woman, who suffered minor burns on both hands, was taken to the Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle for treatment. Afterwards, she was allowed to leave.

The driver explained to the police that after passing the New France traffic circle at a distance of three hundred meters, he noticed that smoke was coming from the hood. He tried to stop the car, but it was then that he hit the parapet head-on. The car was completely destroyed by the fire.

These two Congolese had arrived in Mauritius on Friday June 3. They had left Pereybère to go to the airport. The car, which was reduced to a pile of metal sheets, was towed to the police station in Rose-Belle.
