Fine and Jail for Those on the Street During the Torrential Rain Warning

An exceptional measure! the National Crisis Committee, after consultation with Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, decided to come up with this decision. Thus, any unauthorized person, i.e who is not in an emergency situation or is not an employee of an essential service, risks a fine of Rs 100,000 and a prison sentence not exceeding 2 years. The decision was taken on Friday morning and has already been included in the gazette. The measure is valid from now until 6 am on Saturday 28 January.
