Police officers from the Metropolitan Police North Division had a hard time restoring order at Tulips Residence, Baie du Tombeau on Sunday afternoon, November 27, after a family dispute escalated into a fight. More than 150 people gathered around the house of one of the neighbors of the family members. It was with great difficulty that a neighbor was extracted by police officers to be taken to safety. During this operation, a police officer was injured and a police vehicle was damaged.
A 49-year-old resident of Cité CHA, Terre-Rouge, gave a statement of assault early Monday evening, November 28. She explained that she was at her daughter’s home in Tulips Residence, Baie du Tombeau, when her daughter, who lives in the same neighborhood, came up to her and shouted, “Sorti deor… mo pou K…”. The forty-year-old said she questioned him about his walk and at the same time, her older daughter threw the beer bottle she was holding in her right hand in his direction. Hit on her right shoulder, she said she felt pain. While the police officers were evacuating the woman, a Toyota Hilux police vehicle was damaged.
