Faizal Dilloo: Watercolors for Posterity

Must Read

Watercolorist Faizal Dilloo has been playing with lines for 25 years. By immortalizing the country’s landscapes, the artist wants to leave a cultural legacy for future generations.

He teaches art at Islamic College in Rose-Belle. But Faizal also lives his passion for painting outside the classroom: “I love to travel the island in search of new landscapes. Painting outdoors is a unique sensory experience.”

And when he’s not hunting for authenticity in the country, it’s the streets of the capital that he surveys: “I was born in Port-Louis and I have a real adoration for my city. It is therefore not surprising that the streets of Port-Louis are very much present in my paintings.

Having participated in several group exhibitions, Faizal is preparing for a new one at Lakaz flanbwayan – Bambous: “The members of the Mauritian branch of the International Watercolor Society invite the public to come and discover their paintings from January 21 to 29. Admission is free and it is a great opportunity not to be missed,” says Faizal.
