In the real world, minds are read by a hat-like gadget worn on the head. A device functioning as a superconducting quantum interference that measures the magnetic fields produced by brain electrical impulses.

Fluffy is inspired by the three-headed hound of the underworld in Greek mythology, named, Cerberus. This is one of the many numerous-headed mythical creatures observed in the series. Hans Speman, an experimental embryologist, successfully developed a two-headed frog embryo.

Some scientists are currently working on the therapeutic powers of tears. A protein called, Lysozyme is said to be efficient against HIV and has been identified in the tears of pregnant women. The Phoenix named Fawkes has tears that heal wounds, as seen to aid Harry’s injuries in the Chamber of Secrets.
