Ever Wondered How Harry Potter Can Be Related To science? Here’s How

Must Read

We often feel nostalgic when it comes to Harry Potter films. We all have fantastic memories of that one film of the entire eight-film series we choose to watch. Harry Potter films are a blend of magic, action, and mesmerizing visuals. Strangely, the Harry Potter films have a connection with some instances that science can explain.

  1. Invisibility CloakHarry Potter image 1

Technologies, in recent times, have developed to make people invisible with the help of special clothing, blankets, and even, spectacles. Though the idea may seem farfetched of having light to refract which may appear as light traveling from one medium to another. To many, it might sound dubious but some see a possibility.

In the words of the potion master in the world of wizardry, Professor Snape, “potion-making is a ‘subtle science’. Though certain drugs or serums are used in torture and interrogation methods, they may not be as efficacious as Snape’s brew. Substances causing psychosis aren’t limited to the wizardry world alone.

3. Sorting Hat

Every student, upon their arrival at Hogwarts, is mindfully placed in one of the four houses while their time at school. These houses were Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. This task was done  by none other than the Sorting Hat, which assigns each student a house, as per their potential, by reading their minds.

In the real world, minds are read by a hat-like gadget worn on the head. A device functioning as a superconducting quantum interference that measures the magnetic fields produced by brain electrical impulses.

  1. Fluffy

Fluffy is inspired by the three-headed hound of the underworld in Greek mythology, named, Cerberus. This is one of the many numerous-headed mythical creatures observed in the series. Hans Speman, an experimental embryologist, successfully developed a two-headed frog embryo.

  1. Healing Tears

The Phoenix named Fawkes has tears that heal wounds, as seen to aid Harry’s injuries in the Chamber of Secrets.
