Crackdown Operation Of Adsu In Cité Sainte-Claire: Six Arrests, Including A 17-Year-Old

A Crackdown Operation was carried out in the early hours of Thursday morning, February 2, in St. Clare’s, Goodlands by police officers from the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the Northern Division. The simultaneous exercise resulted in the arrest of six people, including two women and a 17-year-old boy in possession of the drug.

It was around 5.15am on Thursday 2 February that six teams of Adsu from the northern division carried out almost simultaneous raids on the homes of six families in Cité Sainte-Claire. This was after hours of surveillance, following information obtained that these suspects were involved in drug trafficking.

A 47-year-old bricklayer was arrested after he was found in possession of two doses of synthetic drugs. After appearing in the Pamplemousses Magistrate’s Court, he was released on bail. A 36-year-old man was arrested for being found with two plastic tubes containing 46 cannabis seeds. He was kept in a cell at the Beau-Bassin prison after his court appearance. A 34-year-old woman was found in possession of two cigarettes mixed with cannabis. She was released on parole.

A 28 year old bricklayer was caught in possession of a plastic wrapper with a quantity of hashish, 1.64 grams. He was released on bail. A 17 year old was found in possession of three cannabis seeds. He was released unconditionally. A 36-year-old woman was arrested after she was found in possession of three plastic bags containing a quantity of cannabis, thirty-six cellophane parcels with cannabis and an electronic scale with traces of cannabis. After appearing before the court in Pamplemousses, the woman was detained in the Beau-Bassin prison.
