A week without death is much better. Covid 19 has claimed no lives this past week while fewer and fewer people are being infected. However, the Minister of Health is asking for vigilance against new variants in his decision not to lift the restrictions as in EU countries.
104 local cases positive and 61 imported cases in one week. For this Friday 13 May, the Ministry’s communiqué mentions 6 positive cases. The country has a total of 14 admissions for the week, with 9 cases in regional hospitals and 5 in the New ENT Hospital in Vacoas, including 1 fully vaccinated patient under artificial respiration, 2 under respiratory assistance, one fully vaccinated and 1 unvaccinated, and 2 others under observation. To date, the New ENT Hospital has recorded no admissions and 2 only in regional hospitals.
Vaccination is progressing with 1,008,686 for the first dose, 975,508 for the second, 631,478 for Booster Dose I, including 240,192 at Johnson & Johnson, 8,810 at Sinopharm, 2,825 at Astra Zeneca, 263,289 at Pfizer and 100,900 at Moderna. For the Booster dose II, 5,820 people were inoculated, including 5,707 at Pfizer, 108 at Moderna and 5 at Johnson & Johnson. For the adolescent campaign, 75,172 received the first dose of Pfizer and 68,995 the second dose.
In Rodrigues, 73.07% of the population received the first dose, 72.34% the second and 14,575 the third.
