No one can know how many individuals have been really contaminated by the Terre Rouge Cluster or will be. Since the “outbreak from wedding cluster’’ 98 new cases in relation to this act of indiscipline, are gradually cropping up every day, and only this July 07, 25 new cases against 14 yesterday. We currently have 319 active cases on the island and 4 new Red Zones paralysing Port Louis and Northern Port Louis sectors.
Imprisonment and fine considered
Plaine Verte, lower Vallée des Prêtres, Cité Martial and part of Terre Rouge, they are all in lock down again. All due to that grand wedding reception that grouped over 300 guests, on June 26. All involved parties in this illegal reception will be punished for being in breach with the established sanitary rules and regulations of the Ministry of Health’s Quarantine Act. The concerned Ministry has even lodged a complaint against the Wedding Cluster. They risk imprisonment and fine. Their sentence is not yet decided but as announced for such a serious offense where the accused has put the health and lives of others at risk is punishable by law and subjected to a fine of Rs 500,000 and imprisonment for up to five years.
Several Business forced to cease activity
This multiplication of cases has spread during the last days and businesses outside the redzones are affected. In our updated list figure where numerous people have been tested positive sent in quarantine and self-isolation, we have, Novaterra, Princes Tuna, Omnicane Dils, and the Waste Water Management Authority and The Cargo Handling Corporation. The three branches of the CIM Finance, at St Georges Street and Brown Sequard Street in the Mutual Aid Garden Building who had ceased their operations yesterday for the disinfection of the premises have resumed their activities today and this with a new team, since the members of their staff are in self isolation despite the results of the PCR are negative. They will operate at a reduced number of staff.
MP Luchmun Roy brief on reality in Red Zone
Within the Red Zones, it is another saddening reality. Member of Parliament for this circumscription, Subhasnee Luchmun Roy relates, “Together with all authorities and instances namely the Police, the District Council members and the force vives and NGO’s, we are trying to bring our help to the community and ease them. They are unable to work, and, in these regions, we are very aware that they are mainly entrepreneurs. Some cannot even buy food. We intervene in matters of food, transport, and other facilities. We have negotiated with the State Bank of Mauritius for the of an ATM at the Dream Price Supermarket and another one at Le Hochet to reduce agglomeration in banks and long hours of queuing up.
Mass PCR Test tomorrow
This group has set up a mass screening through PCR test this Thursday 08 for the entire population of Vallée-des-Prêtres and Le Hochet. “They will have to bring their identity cards to get vaccinated,” says the MP. The venue will be the Kalou Boutique, Mosque Road in Le Hochet, from 1.30 p.m. to 3 p.m. From 3.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Capucines Lane and Morcellement Foondun from 1.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. In Vallée-des-Prêtres, it will be at the municipal center of Karo Lalo and in the parking lot of the DreamPrice Supermarket from 9:30 to 12:30.
Vallée des Prêtres Red Zone misunderstanding
To clear out all misunderstandings Subahsnee Luchum Roy she points out that there has been mixing up with Vallée des Prêtres declaration as a Red Zone “it is only Lower Vallée des Prêtres that is a Red Zone and not the Upper Part. We have intervened so that Students including those going to Chitrakoot Government School get their transport on time for school resumption and also helping people in their administrative procedures for a WAP, which is very necessary for the upper section of Vallée des Prêtres inhabitants since they share a unique exit and entry with the lower section,” says Mrs Luchmun Roy. The atmosphere in the 4 Red Zones is quite monotonous, as shares the MP, “As Eid Ul Adha is approaching, many breeders and self-employed people are worried as they already made provision for cattle sale” she concludes.
What happened is an unfortunate event, what will happen is still a mystery, what it is now is a fatality. To what extent this spread of Covid contamination will affect our third reopening phase?
