Covid 19: Two Positive At Police Training School, One Suspected At KFC in Saint-Pierre

On Tuesday 24th August, we recorded onTuesday 24 aout, ,327 asymptomatic cases and 5 admissions to the ENT Hospital in Vacoas. The same treatment centre deplores one death directly linked to Covid 19, a 53-year-old civil servant living in Bois-Chéri. Several schools will remain closed on Wednesday 25th August.

The vaccination campaign is continuing, with the Ministry of Health reporting 791,795 primary vaccinated and 704,703 who are in the full vaccination schedule. However, the same fate for schools, closures follow. The new school year is scheduled for Thursday 26 August.

Two positives at the Police Training School

Positive cases were recorded at the Police Training School. These are two affected female officers who are currently in self-isolation. One tested positive last week and the second later in the week. The Police Training School remains operational.

It is official; the D.A.V. school in Port-Louis will remain closed following the detection of two positive cases. A dozen teachers have been called to self-insulate. St Mary’s College in Rose Hill, BPS Fatima in Goodlands, Père Laval in St Croix and St Andrews College in Rose Hill are among those affected.

A suspected case at the KFC in Saint-Pierre

A suspected case of Covid-19 has been detected at the KFC in Saint-Pierre, this Tuesday 24 August 2021. The employee is in self-isolation at home awaiting the result of his PCR test.

The rest of the team will undergo antigenic testing starting this evening and the results will be known on Wednesday, August 25. The restaurant will be completely disinfected by a specialized company this evening and will reopen tomorrow morning. It is also important to note that all employees of the restaurant are vaccinated. Neither screening nor closing

Still targeted is the James Toolsy Government School in Curepipe, where health protocol is still not being followed. Three cases have already been recorded among the students and no screening exercise has yet been undertaken by the Ministries of Health and Education, neither among the students nor among the staff. The administration says its hands are tied and that it is allowing the school to function normally. The parents and the president of the PTA association, Purmanand Manishwar Sharma, have filed a complaint at the Police Station in Curepipe in this regard.
