CDC Issues A Level 3 Travel Health Notice For Mauritius

Must Read

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 3 Travel Health Notice for Mauritius due to COVID-19, indicating a high level of COVID-19 in the country. There are restrictions in place affecting U.S. citizen entry into Mauritius. Your risk of contracting COVID-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with an FDA authorized vaccine. Before planning any international travel, please review the CDC’s specific recommendations for vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers.

Regarding entering Mauritius, it is clear that fully vaccinated international travelers can now enter the island without restrictions. Visitors who present a negative PCR test taken in the 72 hours before their departure can explore the island freely from the moment they arrive.  It is mandatory to arrange COVID-19 insurance health cover (Mauritian citizens, resident permit holders and occupational permit holders are exempted). COVID-19 testing are required upon arrival day 0 and day 5.

Non-vaccinated travelers must show a negative PCR test result 72 hours from the last point of embarkation and COVID-19 insurance health cover.  They must stay in quarantine hotels and are not allowed to leave their room for 14 days. They will have a PCR test on arrival day 0, day 7 and day 14.
