Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra has is the seventh Bollywood film to score an opening weekend of $12 million in the domestic belts.
The Ayan Mukerji directorial has collected $12 million in Hindi in 3 days, thereby recording the 3rd or 4th biggest weekend of all time for a Hindi film.
The business is around the same as Sultan ($13 million) and the final collection of Brahmastra will determine if it’s the third biggest of all time or takes the fourth spot.
Global Box office
Brahmastra was the top movie at the global box office this weekend. This is the first time ever a Bollywood film has topped the worldwide box office charts and the third for any Indian film.
Prior to Brahmastra, Vijay starrer Master and S.S. Rajamouli helmed NTR Jr. and Ram Charan starrer RRR were the films to achieve this feat.
Brahmastra grossed an estimated $26.50 million worldwide, of which $18 million came from India, $4.50 million in North America and $4 million from other markets like Australia, UK, UAE, etc.
It is the first Indian film to ever top the Australian box office. Other number one debuts include India, UAE, Canada and New Zealand. It also opened at number two in USA and number three in the United Kingdom and Malaysia.
