Paul Bérenger, Navin Ramgoolam and Xavier-Luc Duval had a new meeting on Thursday. Afterwards, speaking to the press, the leader of the MMM announced that the last event organized jointly by the three opposition formations was a political and psychological success. He indicated that discussions are underway regarding the organization of a joint meeting on 1st May.
However, Paul Bérenger was clear that if this is concluded, the venue will be in Port Louis, in front of the Government House. Paul Bérenger also announced that it has already been established between the three formations that in case of an alliance, the Labour Party will be the driving force. He insisted that the municipal elections must be held this year. “We will condemn any attempt to come up with a law to postpone this election,” he said. The next meeting between the three leaders is scheduled for next Thursday, 23rd March.
“For the municipal elections, there is no need to appoint a Prime Minister. It is much less difficult and much easier that we agree between us for the municipal elections than for the general elections”, said the leader of the mauves at the end of his meeting, confirming that the PTr, the MMM and the PMSD will go together for the municipal elections.
