The Mauritius Weather Service issued a heavy rainfall watch in Mauritius this morning at 4:30 am. Following this latest weather report on Friday 17 March, predicting bad weather in the afternoon, the Ministry of Education has decided that classes will be held until noon.
Active clouds associated with the tropical disturbance evolving in the north of the island, will gradually influence the local weather from this afternoon.
Cloudy this morning with occasional showers over the eastern half of the island and the Central Plateau. Showers will be widespread in the afternoon and locally moderate. Heavy showers with thunderstorms are expected late in the afternoon and overnight.
The maximum temperature will be between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius in the central plateau and between 28 and 31 degrees Celsius on the coast.
The minimum temperature will be between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius on the central plateau and between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius on the coastal areas.
