Baby Burned With Hot Tea

A 2-year-old girl was admitted to the Burns’ Unit of the Victoria Hospital, Candos on the afternoon of Sunday, August 7. This is after she suffered burns to her chest when a cup of hot tea spilled on her. This accident occurred in her kitchen in Anoushka City, 16th Mile, Forest-Side.

This accident, which occurred around 12:00 on Sunday, August 7, was reported to the police station of Curepipe for the mother of the child by a police officer. The mother explained that she was taking a bath when she heard the screams of her daughter. She immediately came out of the bathroom and saw her child’s soaked clothes. Later, she learned that a cup of tea, which was on a kitchen table, spilled on her child’s chest.

Burned, the child was immediately taken to Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle. After receiving treatment, she was transferred to Candos Hospital where she was admitted to the Burns’ Unit. An investigation has been initiated at the Curepipe police station to find out the exact circumstances of this accident.

On the other hand, a 58 year old welder and resident of Camp Mapou, Henrietta was burned while doing welding work in a dormitory in Route Reunion, Vacoas in the afternoon of Saturday, August 6. A police sergeant assigned to the Vacoas police station went to his bedside at the Burns’ Unit of the Candos Hospital around 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, August 7, to take his statement.

This welder explained that he was doing welding work when sparks flew at his shirt before it caught fire. He was burned all over his body.
