Police officers of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the northern division seized 3.11 kilos of cannabis and 186.67 grams of seeds of this drug in the late afternoon of Friday 23 September. Marie Lisette Cupidon-Casimir, 44 years old and her husband, Genave Casimir, 38 years old were arrested. The value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs 6 million. The Adsu police officers also seized a sum of Rs 8450, which is suspected to be from the sale of these drugs.

Lisette and Genave Casimir were taken to the Adsu office for questioning before being placed in a police cell. This Saturday morning, September 24, they were brought before the Bail and Remand Court (BRC) in Port-Louis. They are facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking with aggravating circumstances for the purpose of distribution. This Monday morning, September 26, they will be brought before the court in Pamplemousses.
