Annual Salary Compensation: Statistics Mauritius Sets Inflation Rate At 4%

Must Read

Finance Minister Renganaden Padayachy will chair the second round of negotiations on annual wage compensation on Thursday. The meeting comes after Labour Minister Soodesh Callichurn listened to the various proposals of the union federations. The latter proposed a wage compensation in the range of Rs 450 to Rs 1000. During yesterday’s meeting, the representative of Statistics Mauritius announced that the inflation rate for the end of the year is 4%.

It is on this rate that the representatives of the unions will base their demand for a wage compensation to all workers in the country because they believe that they have suffered from the rising cost of living. The government has given union representatives until December 6 to submit their briefs for the payment of salary compensation

During the meeting yesterday, the representative of Business Mauritius, Pradeep Darsun stressed that the situation is difficult for all and that is why the compensation must be an amount where everyone can benefit. He was keen to talk about state aid to businesses and hoped that these support mechanisms will continue.
