Amidst Missile Strike In Odesa, Zelenskyy Emphasises Need For Speedy Arms Delivery

Must Read

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s president, Russia is going on the attack by taking advantage of the delayed supply of Western weapons.

His remarks follow the US’s agreement to provide $61 billion in largely military aid to Ukraine.

While acknowledging that some relief had begun to arrive, Zelenskyy argued that it needed to be supplied more quickly. At a joint press conference in Kyiv, President Zelenskyy said: “The Russian army is now trying to take advantage of a situation when we are waiting for supplies from our partners, especially from the United States of America. And that is exactly why the speed of deliveries means stabilising the front.”

Russian attack in Odesa

The remarks follow reports from Odesa authorities in the Black Sea port that a Russian missile attack resulted in 32 injuries and four fatalities. Regional governor Oleh Kiper stated that one man passed away following a stroke that was linked to the attack.

The missile strike took place on an educational facility on Monday in the well-known seaside park of the Ukrainian Black Sea city of Odesa, according to local officials.

NATO chief condemns arms delays

NATO head Jens Stoltenberg criticized the West’s sluggish supply of aid to Ukraine and claimed that “serious delays” had given the Russians opportunity to move on the front lines of the 25-month incursion.

The secretary-general of NATO stated, “Serious delays in support have meant serious consequences on the battlefield” for Ukraine during a press conference in Kyiv with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Declaring that “Ukraine has been outgunned for months, forced to ration its ammunition,” Stoltenberg concurred that Kyiv required weaponry.

Zelenskyy called attention to the particular need that Ukraine has for air defense systems and artillery munitions. “Our partners have all of these things and they should be working now here in Ukraine destroying the Russian terrorist ambitions. Russia’s army is preparing for further offensive actions.”

“It’s not too late for Ukraine to prevail,” stated NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg, who was speaking along with him. Zelensky reported that fresh Western supplies have begun to trickle in. “This process must be speeded up,” he declared.
