Alleged Abduction Of A 10 Year Old Boy In Beau-Bassin

Must Read

An investigation has been initiated by elements of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Beau-Bassin to clarify a kidnapping case involving a 10 year old school boy. The latter alleged that he was abducted by three men near his school in Beau-Bassin at around 9am on Thursday 15 September before being forced into a car and driven towards the village of Mahébourg.  After being assaulted, he abandoned his car on the Cavendish Bridge, and from there he went to his grandmother’s house in Ville Noire, Mahébourg.

It was on the evening of Thursday 15 September that the boy gave his statement for an alleged kidnapping in the presence of his mother at the Mahébourg police station. The child, a Beaubassinois, explained in detail how he was forced into a car by three men at around 9am on Thursday 15 September. He was on his way to a government school he attends in Beau-Bassin.

The car, he said, headed towards Mahebourg. He was taken to a house where he says he was assaulted. The perpetrators of his abduction then took him to the Cavendish Bridge at the entrance to Ville Noire where he was abandoned. He followed the road in fear to his grandmother’s house in the village of Ville Noire.

After being taken to Mahébourg Hospital, he was transferred to Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle for treatment. He was admitted to the ward and placed under observation. The boy was also examined by a psychologist.

In Beau-Bassin, where he says he was kidnapped, the CID men of that city are reconstructing his journey with images from Safe City surveillance cameras and those of private individuals to clear up the case.
