Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye in the Marvel “Avengers” movies and was hospitalized after a devastating injury while plowing snow, was getting better on Tuesday and posted a picture on his Instagram account thanking his fans for their wishes.

He took a selfie from his hospital bed in Nevada and posted on Instagram which showed him with bruises with oxygen tubes in his nose.

“Thank you all for your kind words,” he captioned on Instagram. “Im too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.”

Renner’s publicist and local officials confirmed on Monday that his condition was critical but stable now after his accident on New Year’s Day. His publicist said, “He suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries in the accident.”

Renner, 51, was nominated for an Academy Award for best actor for his work in the 2008 Oscar winning film “The Hurt Locker”. Another nomination that he received was for a supporting actor for his role in “The Town” from 2010.

After garnering success in “The Hurt Locker,” Renner bagged roles in many Marvel projects as well as in two “Mission: Impossible” films, “Arrival,” and “American Hustle,” among others.

Renner has owned a home in Washoe County, Nevada, for several years, according to the Reno Gazette Journal.

That place in northern Nevada received heavy snowfall on New Year’s Eve. The National Weather Service gave a winter storm warning over the weekend in the area.

Briefing the media on Tuesday, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said that a snow plow ran over Renner and it started rolling by itself after being used for digging his car, a family member was driving the car, out of a mound of snow.

Renner used his plow, described by Balaam as a PistenBully that had a weight of over 14,000 pounds, to get the car out. He went to talk to the family member when the machine began to roll.

“In an effort to stop the rolling PistenBully, Mr. Renner attempted to get back into the driver’s seat … it’s at this point that Mr. Renner was run over,” Balaam said, adding no foul play was suspected.
