Accident In La Preneuse: Pedestrian In A Coma, Bus Driver Assaulted, Vehicle Vandalized

An accident on the Royal Road of Black River near Carré d’As, La Preneuse has provoked the anger of the inhabitants of this coastal village in the evening of Saturday, December 10. An individual bus collided with a 55 year old man living in the locality and did not stop.  The driver, who went to the police station in Rivière, was attacked by a group of hostile people and his vehicle was vandalized. The pedestrian who was seriously injured was admitted to the Victoria Hospital, Candos and placed on artificial respiration.

The police of the western division, especially the one on the coastline had a lot to do in the evening of Saturday, December 10 to restore order, following a road accident. 19 hours in the early evening. An individual bus of the brand Mitsubishi blue and mauve color was driving on the Royal Road of Black River when it collided head-on with a man.

The victim was seriously injured. The driver of the bus, 28 years old and living in the village of Chemin Grenier, did not stop. He had to go to the police station immediately. An ambulance from the Dr. Yves Cantin Hospital was requested. As no ambulance was available, two doctors of German nationality who were at the scene of the accident provided first aid to the victim. They were to accompany the injured man to a police vehicle.

The 50 year old was treated by a doctor at the Dr. Cantin Hospital before being transferred to the Candos Hospital. He was placed on artificial respiration. His vital prognosis is engaged.

In the meantime, the situation in the courtyard of the Black River police station has degenerated. A group of people began to ransack the bus that was there with the driver inside. Projectiles were thrown into the cab and other people ransacked the vehicle with clubs and iron bars.

Police officers from the Emergency Response Service, La Gaulette Police Station and the National Coast Guard were called to assist. After the bus driver was extricated, he was taken to Souillac Hospital for treatment.
