A Sexagenarian Dies In Quarantine: 24 Hours To Pick Up The Body

Must Read

He died on the night of checking in his quarantine hotel in a family room and his body was transported to the morgue almost 24 hours later after terrorizing a whole hotel of quarantined patients for a full day. The health authorities explain this “normality” of the transport operation for such a situation by a “procedural concern“.

Saddening discovery

The death of the 64-year-old man was confirmed at 9:30 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday 12 by a certified doctor attached to the establishment. Therefore, he died on Monday night, but his body remained in this hotel on the north coast, locked in a family room, which he shared with a couple and two underage children.

The family, residing in Bel Ombre, was tested positive and was sent to quarantine on Monday, July 19 at this northern establishment. The lady of family members discovered the lifeless body of the older member, who was diabetic at the time she woke him up for his morning dose of insulin. The hotel staff was alerted by the couple, but they took forever before reacting in accordance with protocol.

Decomposing

The body of this sexagenarian remained locked in this room until late in the evening. The body, already in the beginning of decomposition, gave way to a foul smell that invaded not only the room but also the neighbouring rooms and corridors. The couple and two children were not relocated to another room due to lack of space. They had to occupy the common premises of the establishment until very late at night. The Ministry of Health was only able to have the body transported very late to the morgue.

Protocol obligation

This incomprehensive time of action of the Ministry of Health, which worried and literally invaded the air of the residents, is explained in the simplest manner by a representative of the Ministry, “the sanitary procedures for cases of death during quarantine take time. The sexagenarian will undergo a salivary test to determine if he has tested positive to the virus.”
