Vidyadhurry Chummun, 70 years old, did not survive her injuries that occurred in the late afternoon of Tuesday, January 24. The La Flora resident was hit by a car on the Royal Road in Rose-Belle near Plaisance Mall as she was crossing the road. She was transported to the Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle with serious injuries, where she died at 7:50 pm. To date, the number of deaths on our roads is 7. It was at 14:34 in the afternoon of Tuesday, January 24 that this accident occurred. A car coming from the direction of Rose-Belle Hospital was driving towards Le Vieux Moulin. At some point, Vidyadhurry Chummun crossed the road after getting off a bus. She was hit head-on by this Nissan car driven by an 80-year-old man from Nouvelle France.
The 80-year-old woman was evacuated to the Rose Belle Hospital with serious injuries. Vidyadhurry Chummun unfortunately passed away at 7:50 pm on Tuesday evening, January 24. Her body was taken to the Victoria Hospital morgue in Candos for an autopsy. The autopsy, performed on the morning of Wednesday, January 25 by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, head of the forensic department, attributed his death to a hemothorax, which is an accumulation of blood between the lung and the chest wall.
