The official logo of the 22nd African Athletics Championships to be held in Cote d’Or (June 8 to 12, 2022) was unveiled last Monday, January 17, 2022, at the multi-sports complex of Cote d’Or in the presence of the President of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Hamad Kalkaba Malboum. It is the work of Neelesh Molooo, 26, digital and graphic designer at the Fashion and Design Institute that was awarded.
“The man who has no imagination has no wings. With this quote from Mohamed Ali, logo contest winner Neelesh Moloo kicked off the presentation of his design. In the steps that led to his final project the eventual winner drew inspiration from several sources.
He observed several athletes in action at the stadium before deciding on the starting position for the sprint. Then he represented the five regions of Africa by displaying the sun’s rays in five different colors. The tropical vibes of the host country, Mauritius, is subtly symbolized in this painting through a color palette to represent the sun, mountains and nature. “I am very happy to have participated in this contest. This is the first time I have participated in a contest of this kind,” said Neelesh Moloo who won a check of Rs 40,000 for his success.
The president of CAA, Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, “thanked the minister Stephan Toussaint for the support he gives to the African youth by holding these championships in Mauritius”. Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, unveiled the official logo of this competition during this ceremony which was transmitted on Facebook Live.
The Minister of Empowerment of Youth, Sports and Recreation, Stephan Toussaint, stressed the infrastructural support of the Mauritian State for these championships. Stephan Toussaint had the privilege to launch the official Facebook page of the organizing committee (COCAAS22).
The official mission of the president of the CAA which began Monday morning, January 17, ends this Wednesday, January 19 with the signing of the Protocol of Agreement.
