12th CJSOI: Coaches Benefit From Training Session In Côte D’Or

A four-day training session for coaches as part of the preparation phase in view of the forthcoming 12th edition of the Commission de la Jeunesse et des Sports de l’Océan Indien (CJSOI) to be held in Mauritius from 04 to 11 December 2022, kicked off this morning at the Côte D’Or National Sports Complex.

The Secretary-General of the CJSOI, Mr Ashok Cheetamun, and the Director of Sports at the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, Mr Nagalingum Pillay Samoo, were present.

Coaches from Mauritius, Rodrigues, Comoros, Madagascar, and the Seychelles, are attending the training which is being held from 20 to 24 June 2022. The expert, Mr Eddy-Marc Boyer, is the resource person for the training.

Training Session For Coaches In View of 12th CJSOI

Speaking at the event, Mr Cheetamun underlined that the training aims at reinforcing the capabilities of coaches and athletes so as to better prepare the latter for the Games. The training, he said, presents a great opportunity for coaches to network and collaborate.

He stated that it will help to build on the experiences and expertise of the coaches and mentors who will accompany and support youngsters in vulnerable situations as well as in the field of sports and empowerment and development of youths so as to promote their resilience and strengthen their skills.

Training Session For Coaches In View of 12th CJSOI

For his part, the Director of Sports indicated that the Ministry attaches a lot of importance to capacity-building and empowerment of athletes. For him, the training will help member countries to share and learn from their respective challenges and experiences to enhance their performance in the Games.
